The market was under pressure until Thursday, when buyer demand increased and late sales were quoted firm on a large offering. Strength came from a charging dressed beef market that traded near 112.00 for Choice carcasses on Thursday. Western fat cattle traded 1.00 higher on a live basis at 65.00, but only steady from mostly 101.00-102.00 in the beef. Local Holstein steers closed steady to 1.00 lower and slaughter heifers ended steady to .50 lower. The slaughter cow market finished higher, again this week with very good demand. Prices gained 1,00-2.00 with no signs of slowing down. Slaughter bulls ended the week JO-1.00 higher. Supply included 55 percent slaughter steers, 6 percent slaugh ter heifers, 27 percent slaughter cows, 4 percent slaughter bulls, with the balance made up of feeder cattle. Ventilation &SJLM.
