Several 4-H members were recognized for their efforts. •Outstanding 4-H Dairy Mem ber. The Outstanding 4-H Dairy member for 1996 was Rebecca Comman. Becky has just com pleted her seventh year in the Cumberland County Dairy Club and is the daughter of Deb and Steve Cornman of Boiling Springs. This past year she exhi bited the champion and reserve champion Jersey at the 1996 County 4-H Roundup. She has served as a counselor of Ag Ser vice Camp/Ag Day Camp and most recent as teen leader at the Farm Safety Day Camp. Rebecca has been elected as president of the Countywide Club for 1997. •First Year Dairy Member Award Shared in 1996. The First Year 4-H Dairy Member Award is primarily based on interest shown, attendance, quality of project work, scores of roundup, and par ticipating at workshops, roundups, and meetings. This year the club had a tie and will award two equal awards to Gregory Hammond and Jason Nailor. Gregory Hammond, son of Sha- V ron and Guy Hammond, has been a very active member, including attending dairy workshop, junior dairy bowl activities, and pre sented a demonstration at a 4-H meeting. Gregory showed two animals at the 4-H Dairy Round up. Greg had a perfect attendance since he joined. Jason Nailor’s first year in the Dairy Club was quite eventful. He was an active member and scored well in the basic areas of the first year dairy member criteria. He exhibited the champion Guernsey and reserve champion Milking Shorthorn at the 4-H Roundup. Jason is the son of Joanne and Dennis Nailor. Both of these young members were involved in the club meetings and activities. •Achievement Award Winners. The Achievement Award is based primarily on the 4-H member’s achievement form score. The record is a complete history of the 4-H member’s career to date. Winner this year was Rebecca Comman, daughter of Deb and Steve Comman, Boiling Springs. Becky is starting her eighth year in the County wide Club and is club president. This past year, Becky participated as a member of the county’s dairy judging team at both State Days and Penn-All American Judging Forum. •4-H dairy leaders were recog nized by special gifts from the County 4-H Program. Those rec ognized include Kathy Walton, Carlisle, 10 years; Sharon Ham mond, Mt. Holly Springs; Mark Naugle, Carlisle; and John Ocker, Shippensburg, for 25 years of service. •Special recognition was given to three members of the 4-H Dairy Club for completing 11 years of club work.
