Students Become Leaders, Develop Vision Through FFA ALEXANDRIA, Va. FFA empowers students to develop and fulfill a vision for themselves, their communities and their nation. FFA works hand in hand with agricultural education, but its impact reaches far beyond prepar ing employees for the food, fiber and natural resource systems. Stu dents develop the premia leader ship, personal growth and career success skills they need to win in agriculture or any other industry, and in life. “Agriculture offers tremendous opportunities for young people,” said National FFA Adviser Larry D. Case, “and FFA is helping them explore and take advantage of those opportunties. Even if they decide not to pursue one of the 200 careers in the business, sci ence and technology of agricul ture, they will benefit from the public speaking skills, self confidence and leadership talents they develop in FFA.” FFA members across the United States, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands will organ ize events and activities to foster awareness of agricultural educa tion and support for FFA during National FFA Week, Feb. 15-22. National FFA Week is held each year during the week of George Washington’s birthday to recog nize his leadership and commit ment to American agriculture. This year’s theme, “FFA - Leaders with a Vision,” promoted through communities nationwide, emphasizes how FFA enables stu dents to develop leadership skills, prepares them to set goals and vis ions, and empowers them to achieve success. They are the leaders who will carry the agricul tural industry and the nation into the next millennium.
