Brant was raised on a York Township vegetable farm and earned his ag business degree at Penn State. He and his wife, Ruth Ann, reside in York. Reverend Christy Jo Waltcrs dorff, a former York County 4-H member, was a featured speaker who spoke humorously about how “4-H ruined my life.” She is the pastor at Westminster Church of the Brethren, Westminster, Mary land and has directed the efforts of several national Youth Work Camps in Appalachia. “Once a person becomes involved with 4-H, they are never again the same,” she said. “It changes your perspectives and your priorities and puts you at odds with those of much of the rest of the world. “4-H taught me that I had worth because of who I was,” she said, noting that the program is an equa lizer of members of various ages and different backgrounds. Seven board members were elected to the extension’s board of directors, two of them for second three-year terms. Beginning their second terms of service are Ron Werner, Loganville, and Ed Rohr baugh. Seven Valleys. Newly elected to the board are Dorothy Stambaugh, East Berlin; Rep. Michael Waugh, Seven Valleys; Martin Reichard, York; Bob Mcll vain, Dover; and Dave Mille, York. The 4-H Center’s animal exhi bition building is nearly com pleted, according to livestock and dairy agent Tim Beck. Beck praised die core of volunteers who have donated time and supplies to the facility. Because of the volun teer efforts, the facility, valued at $140,000, will be finished with only about $65,000 in actual cash outlays and will carry no debt.
