Tobacco, Com Down HARRISBURG (Dauphin Co.>—The 1995 production of com and tobacco in Pen nsylvania is expected to be below last year, based on Nov. 1 conditions, but production of potatoes will be more, according to the Pen nsylvania Agricultural Statistics Service (PASS). Com for grain production is forecast at 97 million bushels. 22 percent less than last year. Acreage for harvest is estimated at 990,000 with an average yield of 98 bushels per acre, 22 bushels below last year’s record yield and 7 bushels below the five-year average yield. Maryland-type tobacco grown in Pennsyl vania is forecast at6.S million pounds, 8 per cent below last year. Acreage for harvest is expected to be 3,400 with an average yield of 1,900 pounds per acre. Pennsylvania-type tobacco is forecast at 9.2 million pounds, 19 percent below 1994. Acreage for harvest is expected to be 4,500 with an average yield of 2,050 pounds per acre. Potato production is forecast at 4.1 million cwl, 8 percent above a year ago. Acreage for harvest is expected to be 17,000 with an aver age yield of 240 cwl. per acre. United Slates’ com for grain production is forecast at 7.4 billion bushels, down 2 percent from the Oct. 1 forecast and 27 percent below the record 1994 crop. Acres for harvest is set at 64.8 million with an average yield of 113.7 bushels per acre. Soybean production is forecast at 2.18 bil lion bushels, down less than 1 percent from Oct. 1 and 13 percent below last year. Acres for harvest is expected to be 61.7 million with an average yield of 33.4 bushels per acre. All tobacco production is forecast at 1.32 billion pounds, 16 percent below the 1994 output. Acres for harvest is expected to be 674,280 with an average yield per acre of 1,962 pounds per acre. Fall potato production is forecast at 402 million cwL, down 4 percent from last year.
