In 1984, Bupp was elected to Dairymen, Inc.’s Division Board of Direc tors. Subsequently, she has been elected as Vice President of the Middle Atlantic Division Board and as a Director on the Corporate Board of what is now Mid- America Dairymen, Inc. While serving in her role as a director and farmer, Bupp has served as a member of PCC and Penn State’s instructor staff responsible for training directors of cooperatives and management personnel. Bupp also served as an instructor on the cooperative’s Young Dairymen’s Couples train ing seminar with special emphasis on media response training. Moreover, she is a writer/ columnist for Lancaster Farming and York Dispatch newspapers. Luanne Eckenrode, Manager of Member Services and Public Relations for Valley Rural Elec tric Cooperative, was the 1995 recipient of the PCC Master Edu cator Award. For several years, Eckenrode has been heavily involved in PCC’s South Central Cooperative Council where she has taken various leadership roles and responsibilities. This includes primary leadership of the local council’s one-day train ing program for young farmers, as well as her support of the statewide young farmer program. Luanne joined the PCC Board of Directors in 1993. She currently serves as Chair of the Membership Commit tee, and has been instru mental in supporting greater membership efforts. At Valley REC, Eck enrode’s responsibili ties include preparing the Cooperative’s Annual Meeting and district nominating meetings, and preparing and presenting civic programs for youth and adults, to such audi ences as schools, youth groups, and fire depart ments. She also coordi nates the Cooperative’s booths at the Hunting ton and Juniata County Fairs and also assists the Slate-wide Associa tion with rural electric displays at the Pennsyl vania Farm Show and Ag Progress Days. Also recognized was Donald Robinson, the 1995 recipient of the Hal F. Doran Coopera tive Business Education Award, who has served as a lifetime educator regarding fanning and cooperatives to both youth and adults. Pre sently serving as the administrator of the Lancaster County Con servation District, Robinson previously held the position of adult-farmer teacher in the Eastern Lancaster County School District An integral part of the PCC/ PSU Summer Institute for Youth,' Robinson served as Institute Director from 1988 to 1994. While Director, he was instrumen tal in the development and promo tion of a cooperative business enterprise study guide that has been used throughout Pennsylva nia, and the world, to teach busi ness principles to youth and young adults. The Doran Award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional dedication and leader ship in furthering the understand ing and importance of coopera tives in the American business enterprise system. The award con sists of cash and a Penn State Nit tany Lion statue, and is sponsored by the Penn State Cooperative Business Education and Research Program. It is made possible by the Hal F. Doran endowment fund. The Pennsylvania Council of Cooperatives is a statewide asso ciation of cooperative businesses owned and controlled by farmers and rural Pennsylvanians.
