JOANNE E. MORVAY Maryland Correspondent HMONIUM, Md. —A 2-year old that was the Brown Swiss re serve All-American Intermediate Yearling in 1994 won this year’s Brown Swiss Futurity. The second annual Mid-Atlan tic Futurity was held at the Mary land State Fair in Timonium. Ten animals were exhibited. The winning entry was Ken Ir Emory Amery, exhibited by Jere my McDonald of Shen-Val Farm in Stephen City, Va. McDonald, 19, has been show ing since he was four years old. Time in the ring has given him an idea of what the judges look for and how a cow will fare. “She’s been said to be one of the best 2-year-olds, so I thought she had a chance,” McDonald said after Amery’s big win. She also won top overall junior at the Fu turity. Amcry was named junior cham pion at the Eastern National and Southeasteren National shows last year. She was sired by Victory Acres Jubiliation Emory. He showed six animals with the following results: reserve cham pion and first in her class: 100,000 lb. cow; second place: 4-year-old; third place: aged cow. senior calf and dry cow. The Futurity was judged by Wayne Sliker of St ftris, Ohio. His Top Acres Brown Swiss farm has produced seven national win ners, 75 All Americans and 71 re serve all Americans. Smith of Dublin Hills Farm in Woodsboro, Md. Natalie was also the top Maryland junior win ner for Shanna.
