Jessica Sny der of Flemington and Yield Mar cine of Whitehouse received two medals each. Jessica and Vicki both received an award for out standing food members. Jessica received an award in crafts and frozen foods. Vicki received an award in foods and dairy. Heather MacGillivary of Flem ington, a new member, received a gold certificate. One club received two awards. This year’s new offi cers are president, Vicki Marcine; vice president, Jessica Snyder, and secretary. Heather MacGillivray. The club went to a ceramic store and learned how ceramics are molded and fired. The mem bers brought things to make in the club. The State FFA Floral Design Contest, sponsored by the New Jersey Florists’ Association, will be held Friday, March 10. The Slate FFA Flower Show, with more than 700 plants and flower arrangements exhibited, will be gin on Friday, March 10 and end on Sunday, March 12 at 6 p.m. The floral design contest is open to all FFA members in New Jersey. Members, students enroll ed in high school agricultural edu cation, will design two arrange ments. One design will be assign ed by the judges and the other will be the choice of the student Ar rangements will be scored and winners will be announced later that day. The students’ designs will be available for sale after all scoring takes place. All proceeds will go toward awards for the Flower Show. Students competing in the Flower Show will be entering ar rangements and plant material that they have designed or grown in school. More than SO different theme classes are available for students to enter. Preparing an ar rangements for a “ Formal Dinner Party” is one example of a theme class. Arrangements may be enter ed in the “fresh” or “silk and' dried” categories. Ribbons will be awarded to the top five entries in each class, and a rosette will be awarded to the “Best of Division” entry. Plaques will be presented to first place en tries. Floriculture has become an im portant part of the agriculture in dustry in New Jersey.
