During the annual business meeting, three - directors were elected to serve three-year terms on the county Holstein board. New directors are Bridgette Boyer Bortner, Seven Valleys, Wayne Myers, Dover, and Michael Stewart, Airville. They will fill the board vacancies created by the expiration of terms of retiring directors Doug Kilgore, Airville, Gail Thoman, Dallastown, and Mark Bupp, Brogue. National director John Howard, Willow Street, updated York County members on activ ities of the Holstein Association. Howard report ed a break-even financial year on operations for the National Holstein Association, due to an expected total of some 330,000 animals regis tered through 1994. A balance of $4 million remains on the Association’s building payments, expected to be paid off in four installments over the next 15 months. All members are encour aged to attend the area’s Holstein Open Forum, scheduled for February 16 at the Sheraton Inn East, Harrisburg. Frank Feeser, Hanover, state director from York County, noted that the charge for advertis ing in the Pennsylvania Holstein Association’s “Profiles” publication will be increasing. Three $ 1,000 scholarships will be awarded by the state Holstein Association to deserving college stu dents. Feeser announced the dates of March 24 as the annual Spring Holstein Championship Show and September 26 as the Fall Champi onship Show, being held in conjunction with the All-American show at Harrisburg. Top-quality consignments are are being sought for the sale to be held in conjunction with the National Hol stein Convention being hosted by Pennsylvania in Pittsburgh, in late June. Consignments are also wanted for the annual Eastern Shore Showcase Sale to be held in Quar ryville, Lancaster County, on March 25. An eight percent commission on sales of the con signments is shared by halves with the counties from which the animals originate, making this sale a source of income for county Holstein trea suries.
