A Hampshire-crossbred market hog won Tammi Grubb her first 4-H grand champion swine roset te, presented during the York swine roundup held at Weikert’s Livestock Buying Station on August 14. After the 2SS-pound winner went through the roundup sale on August 15, the 13-year-old Hanover 4-H’er walked out of the sale ring with $1,530 to boost her livestock enterprise cash flow. JThe winning hog topped the sale with a $6-per-pound bid from Del- Wood Kitchens, Inc. Reserve champion honors went to Kelly Myers, Thomasville, with her 245-pound entry. Second offering through the swine round up sale, it sold on a $4-per-pound bid to Byron Waggoner Construc tion, Inc. Winning pair was exhibited by Kelly Beard, Glen Rock, with a matched set of hogs weighing in at 255 pounds each. Thomasville veteran 4-H’er Adam Sellers claimed the champ ion mediumweight title, which sold for a 65-cent bid to York Building Products Company. Champion lightweight honors went to Nicole Eisenhart, Glen ville, selling on an BS-cent bid to Glenville Farm Center. Shanna Daugherty, York, exhi bited the reserve champion heavy weight which sold to Roger Bank ert’s Durocs on an BS-cent bid. Reserve champion light heavy weight, exhibited by Bobbi Myers, Thomasville, sold to Lease’s Auto Body and Paint Spe cialists with a final .$2.15 bid. The York County 4-H Meats Judging Team was the beneficiary of the $l2O proceeds of a special lot gaveled off by auctioneer Har ry Bachman. A cake baked and donated by 4-H parent and exten sion assistant Lois Rankin first sold to Ezra Good for Hatfield Packing Company. Good donated the cake back. It sold a second time, for another $6O bid. to Choice Critical Care. The total of 67 head in the swine roundup averaged $1 per pound with the champions and 87 cents without the champions.
