The annual Lancaster County Holstein Field Day is set for Thursday, July 14, at the farm of Steve and Heidi Hershey in Elizabethtown. The deadline for reservations is July 11. The cost of the field day has been set at S 3 per adult, $2.30 per child under the age of 12. From 10 a.m. to noon is to be the judging of cattle and an ultra sound demonstration by Larry Kennel. From noon to 12:30 p.m. will be the official placing of the classes, followed by a lunch of chicken barbeque, baked beans, potato salad, relish tray, fresh melon, potato chips, iced tea and coffee. At 1:30 p.m., Renee Bates, edi tor of the Pennsylvania Holstein magazine is present a program. Also speaking is to be the Lancas ter County dairy princess. Antique And Classic Tractors Wanted The Lebaon Area Fair is inviting neighboring counties to bring their antique (anything prior to 1943) and classic (1944 to 1961) tractors to join in fun contests, a tractor pull and parades on Saturday and Sun day, July 6 30 and 31. All tractors need to be entered on Friday, July 29 from 6 to 9 p.m., or Saturday morning, July 30 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Use the west entrance to the fairgrounds at Cornwall and Evergreen roads. A discus sion about pending legislation on the use of water led to a decision to have a speaker from the Water Commission at the next meeting. Clark showed us his recycling project setup as used to reduce farm residues to compost. A motion was made to donate $l,OOO to the Therapeutic Riding Club. President Philip Ris ser informed us of the Ephrata Area School Board’s grant for our program. July lOthe the annual family picnic will be held at the Ephrata Park.
