Education Kit Features Corn ST. LOUIS, Mo. The National Com Growers Asso ciation (NCGA) announced the completion of a curriculum based education kit on com targeted to 4th grade students. The kit, “Corn - A National Renewable Resource", is a joint venture between NCGA and nine of its state affiliates. “The education of our nation’s young people should be important not only to parents and teachers, but to everyone,” said Larry Kay, chairman of NCGA’s Public Relations Committee and a far mer from Walnut, lowa. “Because the number of people living and woricing on farms is shrinking, it is even more important that NCGA provide educational materials to students who will probably have no other contact with agriculture,” Kay said. The kit, which is free to Climb into the big ComforTECH" cab on the GLEANER" rotary combine and you’ll see a clear difference instantly. More glass on all three sides gives you greater visibility of the field, the incoming crop and the entire header opera tion. And now, three of four models* offer an engine choice. Pick a high torque rise Cummins diesel or a low maintenance air-cooled Deutz both loaded with power to spare. Plus, every GLEANER is backed by a strong AGCO warranty and superior parts service. Check out the GLEANER rotary at your local AGCO GLEANER dealer today. And ask about flexible AGCO financing teachers, provides materials to be incorporated into all major subject areas: language, math, science, and social studies. It includes: • 30 creatively-designed, fact-filled student magazines. • A variety of curriculum boosting activity sheets. • A professionally produced, five minute video about com production and new uses. • A World of Com resource booklet • Two easy-to-follow experiments. • A colorful, informative classroom poster. With comic-book hero, Captain Cornelius, as guide, students will leam that com is no longer used just for food and animal feed. Today, it can be found in everything from fuels to pharmaceuticals. “By providing this informa tive educational kit, NCGA is expected to strengthen the ties between agriculture, specifi cally com, and future consum ers and leaders. And in the long run that will be good for com farmer profitability,” Kay said.
