KKJ^ HAPPENINGS E-Town FFA The Elizabethtown FFA hosted an Outdoor School at their Bear Creek Farm facilities during the first week of August The school was open to middle school stu dents in the Elizabethtown School District. Agricultural teachers and FFA officers conducted numerous activities during the three-day school. The purpose of the school was for students to understand and appreciate agriculture and the environment. In the after noon, students identified various life forms in a stream study. The day concluded with a lesson on how to fish followed by a casting contest. A tour of Ridge View Farms milk processing plant started the second day’s activities. Later that morning, identification of various bird and wildlife along with tracks and signs was conducted in a workshop. In the afternoon stu dents learned how to plant trees from a weeping willow branch. At the end of the day students con structed their own bird house for a take-home project. The last day of the school included participation in garden tractor safety program, whicfh gave each student an opportunity to operate a tractor under real con ditions.
