Ayrshire to Milking Shorthorns, all six breeds of dairy cattle had their IS minutes of fame, parading on the tanbark before judge, Susan Kulp of Villanova, PA at the 122nd Kutztown Fair, in Berks County. Dominating the Ayrshire Class es was Jed Vail of Myerstown, PA. He was busy sweeping up the rosettes for all three Junior, Sen ior, and Grand Champions and Reserve Champions. Brown Swiss winners were Randy Balthaser of Northkill Creek Farms with Grand Champion and Amy Richard of Oley had Reserve Grand Cham pion. Taking Grand Champion honors in the Guernsey breed with a tall and strong senior calf was Suzie Luckenbill of Cor-Phil Farms, Bcmville v PA. Reserve Grand Champion Guernsey is owned by Amy Hollenbach of Bemville. A tremendous Jersey show, cul minated with the selection of Scott Youse of Oley, PA winning the Blue Rosette for Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion. Jamie Yost of Oley showed the only Milking Shorthorns and took both champion and reserve cham pion rosette honors. More than 600 poultry industry person nel from across the country and around the world are expected to attend the 1993 National Meeting on Poultry Health and Processing here on October 21 and 22. This meeting is sponsored by Delmarva Poultry Industry, Inc. (DPI), the trade association work ing for the continued progress of the Delmarva Peininsula’s more than $1 billion-a-year poultry in dustry. “An Industry at Risk” is the theme of this year’s meeting ac cording to its chairman, Dr. Mark A.
