To start, Walter M. Dunlap & Sons of Lancaster purchased Leah Mast's champion medium'weight lamb weighing 95 pounds for $2/pound and then donated the lamb back to be resold to benefit the 4-H Center. After the regular sale, the "benefit” lambs were then auc tioned off and Leah’s lamb was then sold to the Friends of the 4-H Center for a whopping SS.SO/|pound. They then donated it back to be resold again to support the center and it was finally bought by Peg Kaufman for $1.60/pound. The lamb alone rais ed $674.50 for the center. The HSC Group of Malvern purchased Kelly Heim’s 175-pound lamb for $1.65/pound and then donated it to be resold for the 4-H Center. It was then pur chased by Gerry Williams of Parkerford for $1.40/pound. Thrifty Pallet Company of West Chester purchased a center lamb donated by Breezeview Farms and fed by Becky Byrne of Notting ham for $l.OO/pound and then re solt it again to support the Center Fund for $.BO to Bob Hewitt of Spring City. Other breeders who donated lambs to be fed by 4-H’ers were David Lytle of New London and Ginny Steerly of Phoenixville. Both lambs were fed by Sharon Byrne, a pre-4-H member and Adam Byrne, respectfully. Not only did breeders donate lambs but 4-H members donated their own lambs that they had rais ed along with their project lambs. Jason Wagner’s two lambs were donated in memory of Chet Raught and Doris Sickler, Jason's FFA adviser and his 4-H Beef Club leader, who both passed away last year. Those businesses who also purchased lambs includ ed Wiggins' Auto Tags of West Chester. Dr. Renkert of Elverson, Cameron’s Hardware of Oxford. Susan Yorgey of Spring City, Horace and Anna Wilson of Kim berton, Aquilante’s Meat Market of Berwyn, Yoder & Armstrong of East Lansdowne, David Kaplan of Pottstown, and Bob Hewitt of Spring City. On top of that, the open show judge that evening Dr. Robert Herr of Narvon donated his judging fee of $lOO to the cen ter fund, making the grand total raised for the Center $2149.75.
