Atlantic Breeders Cooperative experienced a very favorable business year in 1992, despite economic pressures facing dairymen, according to the orga niztaion’s annual report presented at it many annual district meetings held through its membership area. District 3 held its meeting Feb. 10 at Palm Schwenkleder Church. District I Director Donald Bair, addressed the meeting and reported on the operations of the cooperative. Chuck Allen, management rep resentative, reported that national sales were up, but foreign sales were down for 1992. He also reported on operations at Laincatser. During the meeting two area dairymen were honored for having high producing herds this past year. Receiving certificates of merit were Galen Leatherman, whose herd recorded an average 23.22 S pounds of milk, 856 pound s of fat, 734 pounds of protein and is 66.7 percent ABC sired; and Harold and Tom Haldeman, whose herd produced an average 19,954 pounds of milk, 742 pounds of fat, and 655 pounds of protein, and is 65.7 percent ABC sired. At the District 5 meeting, held FEb. IS at Solanco Fairgrounds, District 5 Director James Kreider addressed membership and ABC management representative Alan Bair talked about his responsibili ties as member-public relations director. Bair said dial it is very important to have effective communications between the cooperative admi nistration and its members. Mem bers must feel part of the team. Receiving recognition were Vemon Umble, Christiana, with 23,089 pounds of milk, 878 pound s of fat, and 736 pounds of protein with 82.2 percent ABC sired; Bart Dell Farm, Quarryvillc with 20,674 pounds milk, 729 pounds fat, and 658 pounds of protein with 97.7 percent ABC sired; Bob and Karen Gochenaur, Lancaster, with 24,807 pounds of milk, 905 pound s of fat and 789 pounds of protein and 98.5 percent ABC sired; Mar lin Beiler, Paradise, 21,268 M, 786 F, 643 P, 100 percent ABC sired; and Calvin Beiler, Paradise, 21,388 M, 720 F, 697 P. and 86.5 percent ABC. Others included Leroy Stolt zfus. Ed Sensenig, Leon Sensenig, J, Robert Kindig, Alvin Fisher, Dale Hershey, Daniel Stoltzfus and Leroy Stoltzfus, Kreider and Nichol. At the Chester County meeting held Feb. 16 at West Fallowfield Christian School, District 2 Direc tor Dan Hudson, of Viola, Dela ware, and Chuck Allen, represen tative, addressed the membership. Receiving awards were Harry Troop, of Cochranville, with 21,571 M, 782 F, 670 P. 87 percent sired; Harold Engel, Atglen, 17.487 M, 656 F, 569 P. and 75.6 percent sired; Walmoore Farm 3, 20,709 M, 758 F, 635 P, 99.5 per cent ABC sired. Also honored was Patty Run Farm, Dog Patch Farm, New Acres, and Ridge Star Farm. At the District 4 meeting held at Intercourse, honored were Singing Maple Farms ;wilh 20,716.
