The Mifflin County Holstein Club’s annual dinner meeting, held January 28th at the Allensvil le Community Hall, began with a welcome by President Ed Click, invocation by Josh Yoder, and dinner. A business meeting fol lowed a slide show and talk by Jay Irwin. John Rheam, Master of Cere monies, introduced guests and then asked the nominating com mittee to conduct the election of directors. Secretary/treasurer Keith Spi cher read the 1992 Annual Meet ing minutes and treasurer’s report. Activities Director Sheldon Peachey announced a. possible three-farm dairy tour this March. Ken Raney of the PA Holstein Association mentioned that mem berships were due now and that Mifflin County was one of 17 out Mike Ammon, Darv Yoder and Dave Stuck were elected directors of the Mifflin County Holstein Association. He complimented the Mif flin County Holstein Club on their successful sale this past summer, and urged members to keep the Spring Sale in State College on April 10 in mind. Raney said the 1995 National Holstein Conven tion and National Sale will take place in Pittsburgh and that breed ers should “think genetically” about what they hope to have available at that time. According to Raney, the June issue of Pro files may feature Mifflin County farms and will be distributed at this year’s National Convention in Rochester, NY. State Director Darren Peachey urged members to renew their memberships this week and also mentioned the 1995 National Con vention Sale. Sale Director Glenn Peachey reported on Mifflin County’s Summer Classic Sale. Forty-five head were sold for $Bl,OOO with an average of $1,891/head. With only 10% commission and because of volunteer help, the Club saw a nice profit Show Committee Chairman Dave Spicher presented updated rules and regulations for the Mif flin County Open Dairy Show held in August during the Youth Fair. Mifflin County will proudly host the District 4-H Show at the Mifflin County Youth Park on September 4. Darv Yoder asked Junior mem ber Mike Kline to report on Junior activities. These included: Junior Judging School, Junior Holstein Convention, Mifflin County Youth Fair, 4-H District Show, State 4-H Show, District Champ ionship Show, State Champion ship Show, a chicken bar-b-que, and the sale of 59 pounds of cheese. Three awards were earned by Chad Renninger for Milk, Butter fat, and Protein. Mike Kline was honored for his Reserve Junior All PA and Premium checks from the Youth Fair went to Andy Reed, Shawn Yoder, Michele Yoder, Mike Kline, Matt Kline, Laura Peachey, and others. Michael Yoder, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul H. Yoder earned the county’s Distinguished Junior Member Award. Other awards included the Top BAA (Bred Age Average) Award for Vem-Lee Farms owned by the Russell Kline family, and the Top Production DHIR Award went to Dairen and Caryn Peachey. Mike Ammon, Darv W.
