Farmland Protection Passes 25,000-Acre Mark HARRISBURG (Dauphin Co.) The Pennsylvania Agricultural Land Preservation Board approved easement purchases for IS farms in eight counties, pro tecting 1,751 acres of prime farm land from development. For the first time, easements were approved for purchase in Monroe County. A total of 25,253 acres in 21 counties have been preserved in the program’s first three years. “We’re pleased to have two Monroe County farms help us over the 25,000-acre mark for farmland protection,” said State Agricultural Secretary and Board Chairman Boyd E. Wolff. “Being so close to New Jersey, Monroe County is under a lot of pressure from developers.” The board also approved Mon tour County’s farmland protection program.
