The 3-year-old Holstein, Lant land Lancer Lilly, swept the grand championship at the Susquehanna County 4-H Show held at the Har ford Fairgrounds. The animal was shown by Cathy Pavelski, 18, a member of the North Jackson Ag 4-H Club. Cathy also won blue ribbons for fitting and showing. The reserve grand campion, Rebalee Leverage Heidi Hope, was shown by Jennifer Ann Sartel, another member of the North Jackson Ag Club. Jennifer was also the winner in the Holstein owner/breeder class. Grand champion of the Colored Breeds was Rose-More May, owned by Elizabeth Joy Seman. Elizabeth is 10 years old and a member of the North Jackson 4-H. The reserve was B.E.K.A. Beat rice’s Babe, a winter intermediate calf, shown by Roselyn Adams of the Dimock 4-H Club. Winning the Colored Breeds owner breeder competition was Elizabeth Joy Seman. Michelle Pavelski was recog nized as the senior grand champ ion fitter. The reserve honor went to Mandy VanKuren. In the spring calf classes, the winners were, Ayrshire, Elizabeth Joy Seman, first and Justin Sprout, second. Justin is from the Dimock, Elk Lake, Springville (DES) 4-H Club. In the Holstein class, Matth ew Pease, North Jackson, was first and DES member Justin Gamer, second. Winter calf: Jersey, Ryan Sprout, was first and Rebecca Empet, North Jackson Ag, was second. Ayrshire, first, was Roslyn Adams of the Dimock Club. Mandy VanKuren from DES 4-H was first in the Brown Swiss class. The number one Holstein in this class was owned by North Jackson member Brad Page, with fellow member Matth Senior and grand champion Holstein, center, with owner Cathy Pavelskl. Fall calf: Jason Colwell was awarded a red ribbon, because this Locust Hill 4-H member was unopposed. Similarly, Justin Sprout was the unopposed winner in the Ayrshire, class, but with a blue ribbon. Holstein Class: Matthew Pease was first and Joshua Harvatine second. Summer yearling: First place Jersey was shown by Ryan Sprout, and Tiffany Gesford earned sec ond place. Holstein: Andrea Gar ner, first place for the DES Club and Justin Curley, Irish Hill Shamrocks, took second place. Spring yearling: DES member Karen Hubbard won the first place blue ribbon; Aileen Cottrell, North Jackson Ag was second in the Jersey class. The Ayrshire winner was North Jackson’s Edca Jo Seman, who had the only entry. Holsteins; Joshua Harvatine was first, and Mandy Van Kuren was second. Winter yearlings: An easy win ner in the Jersey class because of excellent showmanship was Ryan Sprout. Second place went to Lucas Zebrowski. Matthew Pavelski was awarded first place in the Holstein breed, and Leslie Hunsinger, DES, placed second. Fall yearlings; The first place Jersey was owned by Mandy Van- Kuren, who also showed her win ning first place Ayrshire. Second place Ayrshire owner was Eli zabeth Joy Seman. Holsteins; First place, DES member Brandon Hunsinger and Stanley Bonavita, also of DES, second place. Junior champions: In the Jerseys, the champion was EDN RU, die winter yearling shown by Ryan Sprout The reserve junior champion Jersey was Rolling Acres Renovator Abby, DES member Karen Hubbard, owner. Swiss Acres CC Shannon A, owned by Matthew Pease, North Jackson Ag., was reserve junior champion. Tiffany Gesford, of the Dimock 4-H, won the junior grand champ ion fitter award. Ryan Sprout, DES, was awarded the junior reserve champion fitter ribbon. Nearly 80 percent of the dairy animals in this show were in the junior classes. The type judge was Ron Wood.
