It took 10 years of 4-H participation, but Todd Becker, 16, of Norris town, Montgomery County, Anal ly won a contest Saturday during the Berks County 4-H Wabbit and Cavy Lovers Club youth show here in the 4-H Community Center. Todd’s black rabbit, a senior buck in the four class whom he named “Luke” on the spot, won Shoilenberger of Berks County and gomery County are some of the winners of the “Name the Breed and Variety Contest.” over 300 other rabbits entered in the show. “It was the biggest show we’ve ever had as far as animals and exhi bitors were concerned,” said Nan cy Plushanski, coordinator of the event. This youth open show attracted contestants from all over the state and New Jersey, she said. It also attracted 40 Guinea pigs, or cavies, as they are known in the business. In the six class, a Palomino, owned by Tammy Brooks of Pal- myra. Lebanon County, won top honors. This rabbit also was the runner-up best-of-show. The bestcavy was a Sillde, own ed by Christine Cascioli of Egg Harbor, NJ. In the meat pen competition, the best were a trio of Champagnes, owned by Cheryl Lutz of Spring City. In individual breeds, the best and best opposite are as follows: Californian- Tammy Stroup, Richfield; oppo site, Nathan Kramer, Bemville. Champagne Rudy Ziegler.
