Lancaster Society Women Hold 74th LOU ANN GOOD Lancaster Fanning Staff LANCASTER (Lancaster Co.) About 350 members attended the 74th annual convention of the Society of Farm Women of Lan caster County held at the Farm and Home Center on November 2. Arlene Witman, state president of the Society, installed the follow ing elected county officers: Corin nc Nissley, president; Joyce Slay maker, Ist vice president; and Kathryn Fry, 2nd vice president The Society honored four mem bers who are 90-ycars-old. They are Alva Winhold of Society 3; Eva Gingrich of Society 4; Emma Weaver of Society 5; and Sara Conroy of Society 20. A memorial service was held in memory of members who passed away during the past year. These were Anna Sangrey, Society 1; Violet Adams, Society 1; Barbara Moore, Society 1; Ida Hiestand, Society 4; Mary B. Troop, Society 7; Rebecca Buyers, Society 7; Florence Musser, Society 8; Helen Huber, Society 9; Mabel Heller; Society 9; Dorothy Boas, Society 11; Eslella Mowrcr, Society 12; Ida’s Notebook Ida Risser We have finally moved to our new house and now I’m knee deep m boxes. The first few days it is a struggle to find necessary items. Were are the postage stamps? How do you cut paper without a scissors or a knife? And, what happened to all of the pencils and pens? Jeffrey, who lives in Georgia, came and helped us for five days while his sister took care of his children. The children from the two families were ages five, three, two and one. I tackled the kitchen first as that is one of the most important rooms. So, we haven’t missed any meals. The problem is that as it is smaller tham nay previous one there is no place for a lot of items. Even the stove is not a nice big 40-inch one that I had previously used. Before the frost, with Allen’s help, I moved more than 100 houseplants to two big bay win dows and to a shelf stand. When I finally unpack my big collection of dishes, in some 20 boxes, it will be a colorful event. You see, I wrapped all of them in. Christmas paper that I’d saved for 20 years. I was just ready to bum . the bags of beautiful paper when I realized how I could use them. But again, I’ll have one less built-in comer cupboard to store them in. Gradually we’ll become accus tomed to oar new surroundings but I’ll miss all of the activity that happens daily on the dairy farm.
