Correspondent BELLEVILLE (Mifflin Co.) In Mifflin County this year, live stock leaders and Youth Fair offi cials were faced with an interest ing dilemma - not enough space because of an increase in livestock club membership and projects at the fair. Last year’s increase left both livestock barns filled to capacity and club enrollment indi cated more animals this year. Spurred by the need for more space, Beef Club leader Paula Click brought together 4-H and FFA leaders, the Livestock Com mittee of the Fair Board, and others to discuss additional space. The resulting project, a 52 ft. x 60 ft. roofed structure with perma nent bleachers along one wall, will serve as a show ring and sale arena. Building foreman Wayne Fogelman, a contractor from Siglerville, noted the community effort. “There were 40-50 volun teers here to set the trusses. On Saturday mornings and Wednes day evenings, we had 15-20 peo ple. Everything went together nice,” he said. Paula Click, funding coordina tor, mentioned area businesses who donated machinery, labor, or supplies. The youth helped raise money with ham sandwich sales, raffles, and a horse show. With projects in place, the Mif flin County Youth Fair began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony (sheep shears, of course) followed by the Swine Show.
