The show judge was Roger Bankert, swine breeder from Hanover, York Co. In addition to judging the animals, Bankert also evaluated the 4-H members’ fitting and showing skills. He selected the following champions; • Champion filter, Stephen Wessner, New Tripoli. • Reserve champion fitter, Daniel Hartman, Mertztown. • Champion showman, Mark Lazarus, Germansville. • Reserve champion showman, Laura Lazarus, Germansville. The sale’s average price was $.76 per pound, with the grand champion selling for $2.80 per pound to Peters Brothers Meats, Lenhartsville. Thirty-two different buyers supported the sale.
