A2O-Lancaster Farming, Saturday, August 24, 1991 Supreme Sheep (Continued from Page A 1) Harrisburg Farm Show and plans to exhibit sheep again at the show. The supreme animal competed against the other breeds, winning champion of nine breeds. The sheep also competed against the champion market lamb and selling lamb to gamer supreme title. The supreme champion was “the ideal animal” in the mind of Dirk Wise, manager of the Penn Stale Poultry Research Farm and judge for the show. Wise is a Centre Co. sheep farmer and a for mer assistant Penn State shepherd. The market lamb champion was chosen from an “extremely com peutive class,” said Dirk. The champion and reserve, when cho sen, “handled well” and had the “definitive muscling” the industry requires. Both looked good in the hind length and were real smooth down the back, according to Dirk. In the end, it was Garth Camp bell’s 125-pound heavyweight ani mal that grabbed the champion ship. Lisa Reiff, who won supreme champion at the fair last year, became reserve champion with her 105-pound medium weight champion. Champion selling market lamb went to Lisa Reiff, while Garth Campbell received reserve.
