Lancaster Farming Saturday, February 2,1991-D35 Big Mandy Goes For Genetic Trial PLAIN CITY, Ohio 7H4074 Singing-Brook BIG MANDY-ET, a young Pennsylvania sire bred by Singing Brook Farms of Imlcr, has been chosen to enter Select Sires’ Program for Genetic Advance ment (PGA) sire sampling system. Based on his outstanding pedi gree, BIG MANDY has been selected as one of 160 Holstein bulls from throughout the United States to enter the program in 1990. In addition to being sampled through PGA Cooperator herds, this young sire has been selected as a Super Sampler. With this designation, he is also available to all interested Holstein breeders. 7H4074 BIG MANDY is sired by Inspiration, and from the same cow family that produced 7H1236 Mandingo and 7H1939 Aquarius. There is no difference in cost whether a sample is submitted through this program or directly to the lab. Every effort was made to con tact all of the labs doing manure analyses in Pennsylvania. Of the labs that were contacted, those on the list in each kit responded that they were interested in this prog ram and have agreed to the follow ing conditions; they will accept the Penn State mailing kits and infor mation sheets; they will report their results on an “as is” basis to minimize conversions; they will provide Penn State with a copy of each result from a sample submit ted in our kit; and they have agreed to provide quality control documentation. Other labs will be added to the list if they express an interest and agree to the above conditions. If you know of a lab that is not on the list have them contact us or send us their name so that they we can con tact them.
