Shippensburg Fair Has Top Dairy Show BONNIE BRECHBILL Franklin Co, Correspondent SHIPPENSBURG (Franklin Co,) _ Pleasant Valley Jerseys of Chambersburg once again made a strong showing in the Jersey Show at the Shippensburg Community Fair. Owned by the Lester Martin family, Pleasant Valley Jerseys showed the senior and grand champion and the Best Bred and Owned cow July 23 at the Ship pensburg Fairgrounds. The grand champion, Pleasant Valley Master Tmie, along with her dam, Halen Generator Tipsey, placed first in the dam and daughter class. Trixie was also the Best Uddered cow of the show. The Martins showed the top cow in the 100,000 pound class, DJF Gen Peony, a thirteen-year old cow who has made 131,590 pounds of milk and 5,705 pounds of fat. Along with numerous ribbons, the Premier Exhibitor banner also went home with the Martin family. Reserve grand champion hon ors of the show went to Elm Val ley B S Primrose, a six-year-old cow owned by Dianne Dice of Fredericksburg. Primrose was the second-best uddered cow of the event. The Premier Breeder award went to the William Dietrich fami ly of Newburg, who own and operate Carrock Jerseys. In the Guernsey show. Long Lane Farm of Waynesboro showed the grand champion and the reserve champion. Luv, a three year-old, was the grand champion of last year’s show. The Gloss sisters of Chambers burg led their cows to the champ ionship spots in the Brown Swiss portion of the show. Patti showed the grand champion, Twin Lane Performer Queenie, a dry four year-old, while Jenny’s three year-old, Pine Hill Jubilation Honey, was named reserve grand champion. The James H. Young family of Three Springs Farm, Newville, took home the top awards in the Milking Shorthorn portion of the show. Three Springs Cherry, a dry four-year-old, was named grand champion, and Three Springs B.R. Jesel, a five-year-old, was named reserve champion. In .the Ayrshire show, MRK E-Z Win Saydra, a three-year-old owned by Michael Hensel of Newburg, was named senior and grand champion and best-uddered cow. Mary Ellen Deaven’s five year-old cow, Lil Dutch-Acres Holly, took home reserve grand champion honors. Best Bred and Owned cow of the show was Ock erdale Spirit Janet Jamie, a four year-old owned by Heath Ocker of Shippensburg.
