Penn Dairies, Inc., Lancaster based processor of Pensupreme dairy products, is celebrating its 100th anniversary and will have Lancaster Society 34 Farm Women #34 met on April 16 at Eldreth Pottery in Tayloria to tour the pottery factory. We watched pottery being made and fired by the unusual salt glaze pro cess. Our chance-off was won by Shirley Herr, who was later inducted into our society. Penn Dairies will again organize the gala event, underwriting festival expenses and donating all proceeds to the library. The festival is set for the third Sunday of July, which is National Ice Cream Day. Based on last year’s festival, some 10,000 peo ple are expected to attend the fes tivities in Lancaster Square from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. A variety of entertainment and family-oriented activities are scheduled for the event. Last year volunteers dipped some 600 gallons of Pensupreme ice cream for the festival crowd. EPHRATA (Lancaster Co.) Dairy Month is coming. To cele brate the annual June event, Lancaster Fanning again offers to publish your favorite dairy recipe. And that isn’t all you can win a prize for sending in your recipe. Prizes are cows not real ones but those endearing ones that appear on plaques, rugs, pillows, and more. Select your favorite recipe that requires at least one dairy product. Be sure to include your name, address, and phone number with your entry. We’d also enjoy hearing about you or your family. If possible, include a picture.
