added festivities for all to enjoy at
this year’s festival. Penn Dairies
will again organize the gala event,
underwriting festival expenses and
donating all proceeds to the
library.
The festival is set for the third
Sunday of July, which is National
Ice Cream Day. Based on last
year’s festival, some 10,000 peo
ple are expected to attend the fes
tivities in Lancaster Square from
1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. A variety of
entertainment and family-oriented
activities are scheduled for the
event.
Last year volunteers dipped
some 600 gallons of Pensupreme
ice cream for the festival crowd.
EPHRATA (Lancaster Co.) Dairy Month is coming. To cele
brate the annual June event, Lancaster Fanning again offers to publish
your favorite dairy recipe. And that isn’t all you can win a prize for
sending in your recipe.
Prizes are cows not real ones but those endearing ones that
appear on plaques, rugs, pillows, and more.
Select your favorite recipe that requires at least one dairy product.
Be sure to include your name, address, and phone number with your
entry. We’d also enjoy hearing about you or your family. If possible,
include a picture. But neither a picture nor a write-up is needed to enter
the contest
To be eligible for the drawing, your recipe must be postmarked by
May 31. One entry per household.
Pennsylvania Dairy Princess Anne Marie Mitchell wdl draw the
winning names from a milk bucketful of entries. If you send in a recipe
by the postmarked deadline, your name is guaranteed to be entered in
the drawing.
Send your recipe to Lou Ann Good, Lancaster Farming Dairy Draw
ing, P.O, Box 609, Gphrata, PA 17522.
