More than 17,000 employees will participate. Association Sponsors Earth Week Cleanup ty is encouraged to spend at least one hour participating in this pro ject that ultimately benefits every one in our society. This event will focus attention on litter and the throw-away aspect of our society. The Farmers’ Association strongly supports new legislation known as the “bottle bill”, which will establish a beverage container deposit law. The Farmers’ Associ ation recognizes that a large prop ortion of the trash along Adams County roads consists of beverage containers and other reusable/ recyclable items. In addition to its ongoing efforts to promote the recycling of polyethylene tereph thalate (PET) beverage bottles, ICI Films will distribute little plastic pot scrubbers, made of 100 percent recyclable polyester and with an environmental message, the Adams County township offices during their normal busi ness hours during the week prior to Saturday, April 28,1990. Trash bags and orange safety vests may also be obtained at the Gettysburg office of the Pennsylvania Depart ment of Transportation building. PennDOT and/or townships will designate locations where full trash bags may be deposited on state-maintained roads or town ship locations in Adams County. ICI Agricultural Products employees across the U.S. will participate in activities ranging from adopting an animal at the North Little Rock, Arkansas, zoo and financial support to further the development of die Armand Bay ou Nature Center in Bayport, Tex as, to tree planting ceremonies in St. Gabriel, Louisiana, and a $15,000 contribution to the National Endowment Foundation to support a soil and water conser vation project in south Texas. ICI Advanced Materials chal lenged its employees to come up with ideas on how best to cele brate Earth Day. The winning entry was Ann Meurer of Fiberite in Winona, Minnesota for her idea form “conservation commit tees” at each site. The committee would meet to compile ideas and set goals specific to each site aimed at environmental conserva tion. They would also design and implement one external communi ty project in the coming year. ICI Polyurethanes in West Deptford, New Jersey, is planning an all-day community open house, including plant tours and displays of end-use products.
