NEW HOLLAND (Lancaster Co.) — The new Model 9030 Ford biderectional tractor features stronger frames and cast axle tubes for added durability. Three point linkage lift capacity has been increased to 6,500 pounds at the cab end. Engine-end 3-point SAE lift capacity is 3,000 pounds, a 1,000-pound increase. Steering force on the new 100-hp (PTO) “9030” has been increased through the use of double-acting cylinders. In the cab, the operator seat and control console rotate 180 degrees so the operator can face either direction for best work efficiency. With drawbar, PTO and 3-point linkage available for either or both ends, implements can be pulled or pushed. For New Holland Product Manager Jim Payton points out that for planting, a harrow and spray boom can be pushed ahead and a planter trailer behind the tractor for single-pass work. An auger header and condition er adapter converts the “9030” from a farmstead loader tractor to a self-propelled windrower in minutes. Hydraulically driven by the tractor system, headers are Last year, more value minded farmers picked Massey-Ferguson than any other make. In fact, one of every five tractors now sold in the Western World is an M-F. Which makes Massey- Ferguson the Western World’s largest tractor manufacturer. One of the big reasons for this popularity is the great value of the 50-90 PTO hp line of M-F 300 Series tractors. They all give you the torque, economy and relia bility of world-famous Perkins diesel engines and all the advantages of advanced Ferguson system hydraulics. Plus you get the practical features you want, like hydrostatic steering as standard equipment. L EBANON VALLE y MM. WEAVER & SON SCHREFFLER EQUIPMENT S G. Payton points out the extreme versatility of the bidirectional tractor has inspired both farmers and non-farm users to make their own adaptations for special pur pose work. Vegetable producers find the clearance and hydrostatic drive appropriate for planting, cul tivating, or harvesting. Cranberry growers find it excellent for spray ing and work in bogs. Contract installers have chosen it to carry vibra-plow cable plows to install hundreds of miles of telephone and fiberoptic cable. Others have mounted heavy-duty rotary cutters for cross-country right-of-way maintenance. “We’re testing a variety of implements to add to the range that farm and industrial users have figured out on their own,” said Payton. Municipalities, for exam ple, find it a near ideal dual purpose power unit with a snow blower for removing deep drifts and a loader for loading snow into dump trucks. For year-round maintenance and pothole repair, towns have mounted a scraper blade on the Who makes the most practical tractors? PEOPLE'S SALES & SERVICE Oakland Mila.
