Cl2-Lancaster ,Farming, Saturday, April 15,1989 ALFRED, NY Students at Alfred State College will be offer ing everything from a milking con test to the Ag Olympics this year as they observe National Agriculture Day. Scheduled Wednesday, April 19, from 9:00 a.m. to late after noon, the event is expected to attract even greater numbers than previous years because of the April date. In the past, the college attempted to stay in step with the rest of the nation by observing Ag Day on or about the date in March that was designated for such a celebration. Because of the uncer tainty of weather much of that month, however, officials decided to move to an April date. “We should get a better break (from the weather) in April,” a spokesperson said, explaining that many of the day’s activities are held outdoors. Among major events this year will be farm tours, hayrides (trac tor drawn), sheep shearing, milk ing demonstration, milking con test, and a variety of exhibits both indoors and outdoors in the central dining hall area of campus.
