Breeding Swine Show champion Hampshire barrow shown by Carolyn Thomas as the show’s supreme champion bar row; the reserve champion Spotted gilt exhibited by James Parlett & Sons as the supreme champion gilt; and the champion Duroc boat owned by David Holloway as the supreme champion boar. The champion Spotted female, shown by Ron Trestle, was ineligi ble to compete for the supreme champion gilt title because she was a sow. Parlett and Holloway faced stiff competition in the Duroc division, which was the show’s largest category, but came out on top with Parlett having the champion and reserve champion sow as well as the reserve champion boar. Hollo way had the champion boar and champion barrow. The reserve champion barrow slot went to Tho mas Frantz. Rodger Banket! and Parlett traded off the top honors in the Chester White boar and sow posi tions, with Parlett showing both champion and reserve champion barrows. Banker! exhibited the champion sow and reserve champ ion boar, while Parlett added the purple rosette for the champion boar and the pink rosette for the reserve champion sow to his collection. Five out of the six top spots in the Berkshire competition went to the Cornbower family. Both champion sow titles were taken by Russell Cornbower as were both champion barrow titles. The champion boar was exhibited by Arlie and Russell Cornbower, while Daniel J. Hartman went home with the reserve champion boar. John Strawbridge dominated the Hampshire and Yorkshire shows going home with a carload of blue and red ribbons. His main competition in the Hampshire divi sion was Carolyn Thomas, whose champion barrow went on to become the show’s supreme champion. All other champion and reserve champion ribbons went to Strawbridge. In the Yorkshire division the reserve champion boar was exhibited by Wilson Yor shircs, while the reserve champion barrow was owned by Jeff Stern. Strawbridge exhibited the remain ing champions and the reserve champion sow. Ron Trostle claimed the most champion and reserve champion honors in the Spotted competition. He showed the reserve champion boar, champion sow, and reserve champion barrow. A barrow shown by Parlett was named the champion Spotted barrow, while one of his sows also was selected as champion. The champion boar honors went to Larry Robinson. The Poland titles all went to Kenneth Bauer, who faced no competition. Tunnel Hill Farm showed the top six animals in the Landracc division.
