C4-Lancaster Farming, Saturday, August 20, 1988 Elizabethtown Fair Lancaster County’s farm fair season officially kicks off on August 23, with the opening of the 15th Annual Elizabethtown Fair. A prc-Labor Day neat, the fair runs until August 27, at the East High Street fairgrounds, located just past the Elizabethtown Area High School. Hours arc 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Exhibitors may pre-register their entries at thie fair Olfice, on the grounds, Saturday, August 20, from 9:00 a.m. until noon. All domestic entries will be received at the Brethren in Christ fellowship hall on Monday, August 22. Doors open for registration for 9:00 a.m. Animal exhibits will be received for competition on Tuesday, August 23, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday is also the opening day of the fair. The official fair open ing will be at 6:30 p.m. on the main stage. Lively bidding is again expected in the annual event, which is a crowd favorite. High honors will go to both the Best of Show in the decorated cake divi sion and die winning bidder. The winner in the baked apple pie division also will have the opportunity to compete in a state wide competition at the Pennsyl vania Farm Show in Harrisburg. Each local and county fair will be sending a representative to the state-level bake off. Senior Citizens Day on Wed nesday will feature Soony Miller and the Happy Valley Boys on the main stage starting at 8:00 p.m. The Youth Sheep Show will be held on Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m. The Lancaster County FFA Tractor Driving contest is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., to be fol lowed by the beef show at 6:00 p.m. in the main arena.
