PDA Urges Completion Of 1987 Census Of Agriculture HARRISBURG The Pen nsylvania Department of Agricul ture is urging farmers to promptly complete and return 1987 Census of Agriculture report forms. The forms were mailed to the nation’s farmers by the U.S. Bureau of Cen sus. The forms arrived by mail in early January. The Bureau of Census has asked farmers to report on their agricul tural operations during the past year and return the report forms by February Ist. Prompt return of the forms will reduce costly follow-up mailings and it will speed up pub lishing of data. The Census of Agriculture needs basic information concern ing land use and ownership, crop acreages and quantities harvested, livestock and poultry inventories, value of crops and livestock sold, and operator characteristics. Twenty percent of the Census e sure to find one your needs. You’ll find them at work on farms, in parks, nurseries, estate homes and even on construction sites. Farmers seeking assistance in completing forms can call local offices of the Cooperative Exten sion Service, Soil Conservation Service, Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, and the Farmers Home Administration. People not operating a farm or ranch who receive a census form should return it to avoid additional mailings. Farmers who have not received a form should write to the Bureau of the Census, 1201 East 10th Street, Jeffersonville, Ind. 47133.
