PDA Urges Completion Of 1987 Census Of Agriculture
HARRISBURG The Pen
nsylvania Department of Agricul
ture is urging farmers to promptly
complete and return 1987 Census
of Agriculture report forms. The
forms were mailed to the nation’s
farmers by the U.S. Bureau of Cen
sus. The forms arrived by mail in
early January.
The Bureau of Census has asked
farmers to report on their agricul
tural operations during the past
year and return the report forms by
February Ist. Prompt return of the
forms will reduce costly follow-up
mailings and it will speed up pub
lishing of data.
The Census of Agriculture
needs basic information concern
ing land use and ownership, crop
acreages and quantities harvested,
livestock and poultry inventories,
value of crops and livestock sold,
and operator characteristics.
