Hartner A four-year member of the Wattsburg FFA chapter, David Hartner raises wheat and com and studies dairy cattle management. The son of Junior and Norma Hart ner of Wattsburg (Erie), he has earned the Green hand and Chapter Farmer degrees and received the Star Chapter Farmer award David has served terms as chaplain and student advisor of his chapter. He enjoys all-terrain-vehicle and snowmobile riding. After graduation he plans to work with a local gas well company. Suzanne Hash Dairy calves and cows. pleasure horse, and a home garden are the projects on which Suzanne Hash has worked during her four years as a member of } the Kennard-Dale FFA * chapter. The 17-year-old daughter of Ronald and Betty Hash of New Park (York), Suzanne has chaired the community service, scho larship, and assembly committees and worked on the stafj nominating commit tee. She has earned the Greenhand and Chapter Farmer degrees and received the Star While Rose and Star County Farmer awards. In addition, she took a gold medal in the state horse judging competition and a silver in the state project book contest. Suzanne is active in the Silver Spurs 4-H club, orchestra, and concert band and year book. She has attended the National FFA Convention and is the York County Dairy Princess. Horseback riding, showing Holsleins, traveling, art, and music are her hobbies. Following graduation she plans to attend Virginia Tech for a degree in agricultural economics. Melanie Hawbaker Dairy cows and heifers, commercial veg etables, and swine breed ing and finishing are the projects that Melanie Hawbaker, 18, has worked on. She has placed second in the national and chapter farm business management contests and seventh in the state competition. The daughter of Hannon and Joyce Hawbaker of Chambersburg (Franklin), Melanie has earned the Greenhand and Chapter Farmer degrees and served on the citrus fruit and parliamentary procedure committees. Melanie belongs to the Ebenezer Youth Group and Choir, 4-H Square Dancing, FHA, chorus, National Honor Society, Great Literature Club, and Ebenezer Quiz team. She enjoys horseback riding, crocheting, sewing, embroidery, aerobics, and square dancing. Upon graduation she plans to advance to a managerial position at the bank where she works and to own a small dairy farm. Kevin Hawk A five-year member of the Conococheague FFA ■■■■ chapter, Kevin Hawk is the 18-year-old son of Barrie and Gloria Hawk of Mercerburg (Frank lin). He has been involved in swine breed ing and finishing, beef finishing, raising sweet and field corn and rabbits, and working as a mechanic. Kevin has been treasurer andsentinel of his chapter and sentinel of the county organization. He placed first in the state Keystone Farmer Degrees - interview contest and has earned the Grcenhand degree. He belongs to the 4-H Tractor Club, D. 'k, band, and the 4-H Baby Beef Club. Kevin enjoys repairing engines, three wheeling, hunting, fishing, skiing, and jogging. He plans to make a career with the Air Force. Michael P. Hawn Michael P. Hawn, 17, is the son of Patrick and Patricia Hawn of Gettys burg (Adams). He has belonged to the Apple City Biglcrville FFA chapter for four years He has served as chapter treasurer and county reporter. In addi tion, he has received the Greenhand, Chapter Farmer, County Farmer degrees. Michael’s hobbies include showing beef cattle and four-wheeling. He plans to attend a two-year school for diesel mechanics. Bradley Wayne Hay The son of James and Karen Smith of Somerset (Somerset), Bradley Hay is a fourth-year member of the Somerset FFA chapter. He has been assistant vice president and assistant chaplain for his chapter. Bradley has part icipated in fruit sales, fair booth, vegetable seed sales, basket ball, volleyball, bulb sales, banquet, community services, and farm program committees. He has earned the Green hand and Chapter Farmer degrees and received a hog proficiency and a specialty crop award. Bradley enjoys riding, showing, and pulling horses, hunting, fishing, and woodworking. He plans, in the future, to own and operate his own farm. Todd B. Heckman"" Vice president of the Conococheague FFA ■■■■ chapter, Todd B. Heckman, 17, also has served a term as student advisor. He is the son of nVH Paul J. and Darlene Heckman of Mercers- jgBL burg (Franklin). Todd won the county agronomy and speech contests. He also has earned the Chapter Fanner degree. He belongs to the Food For America committee, National Honor Society, Stage Band, and Ski Club. He enjoys woodworking, sports, playing the trombone, and skiing. After graduation he plans to become a dairy farmer. Shawn Alan Hensel This 18-year-old is the son of Mark Wayne and Margaret Hensel of New burg (Cumberland). During his four years in FFA, Shawn has raised dairy calves and heifers and now has a herd of six animals. He also has raised com, alfalfa hay, and market hogs He has participated in BOAC, recreation, fund raiser, and budget com mittees. He has received fitting and agri cultural-mechanics awards, been named Star Chapter Farmer, and placed fourth in dairy judging. Shawn has been reporter and vice president of his chapter and cur rently is president. He enjoys collecting wooden animals, hunting, and taking walks through his mountain lands.
