810-Lancaster Farming, Saturday, September 12, 1087 Curious Goats Keep Children Busy FLEETWOOD, (BERKS CO.) —Jonathan Kurtz likes helping his dad on their 100 acre Fleetwood farm. There’s always lots of inter esting things to do on the farm. The Kurtz's bought three Nubian goats with floppy ears. The mama goat is named Maggie and she has two twin kids named Timothy and Jenny. The goats live in a pen, but Joh nathan and his sister Tammy like to let them out into the yard so that they can play with them. The black goats with their flop py ears like people. As soon as the mother goat hears the house door slam, she peers over the stone bar nyard wall and baa’s for attention. Her kids are a bit more shy and sometimes hide behind their mother. The goats like to eat flowers, bushes and everything else they can chew. One day, Jonathan’s daddy was loading high moisture com from his silo into his truck so he could deliver it to another far mer. Maggie ran up and sniffed the strong sweet smell of the com that Oops! Although Jonathan and Tammy try to discourage the goats from eating things they shouldn’t, the goats are naughty kids and do not listen. Sometimes they stand straight up on their hind legs and chew the leaves off the trees. Since Maggie is quite tall, she can stretch to reach branches that are high above her. Jonathan and Tammy plan to teach their goats jo pull a cart so they can have fun going for a ride. But for now, the children haul their goats around on a trailer connected to a three-wheeler. The goats like to ride around the farm. Jonathan and Tammy think goats are the best pets to have.
