Prana replaces the old variety Nestor, being equal to it in each performance characteristic, but superior in seed production. Recommended seeding rate is 15 pounds alfalfa and 5 pounds Prana in a mixture, or 20 pounds per acre in straight stands. The variety can also be used in conjunction with other grasses and legumes for mixed hay or pasture. The 1,200- pound steer was purchased by Roger Shuck for the Mifflinburg Farmers Exchange, Inc. of Mif flinburg for $1 a pound. The 1,055-pound reserve champion market owned by Amy Cotner of Lewisburg and sold at 86 cents per pound to Keister’s Middleburg Auction Sales. In the Market Swine Division, the grand champion market hog was owned by Duane Keefer of R 2 Lewisburg. The 231-pound hog was sold to Hatfield Packing Company, of Hatfield, at $4.50 a pound. The 222-pound reserve champion hog was owned by Tammy Kulp of R 3 Mifflinburg. It was purchased by Swineford National Bank of Middleburg, for $2.80 a pound. The 110-pound grand champion market lamb, owned by Brian Walker of R 2 Lewisburg, was sold to the Mifflinburg Bank and Trust Company of Mifflinburg for $6.20 a pound. The reserve champion lamb, owned by Rebecca Dietrich of R 2 Mifflinburg, was sold to Swineford National Bank for $5.70 a pound. Wrap up an End-of-Season deal.
