FLEETWOOD - The Berks County Dairy Farmers Association u gearing up for two big dairy promotions and invites everyone to get involved. The first event is a Berks Co. Dairy Night with the Reading Phillies at the Reading Municipal Stadium on Saturday, July 19. Beginning at 6 p.m. the Reading Phillies will be playing the Pitt sfield (Mass.) Cubs in a double header. Between the games the Association will sponsor a Cow Milking Contest and a Milk Drinking Contest. The final highlight will be the construction of a 50 foot Banana Split in celebration of National Ice Cream Week. A Berks County Dairy Festival is planned for Sunday, August 3, at the Gring’s Mill Recreation Area outside of Reading. The festival is sure to provide lots of fun for all. Various dairy farm organizations are cooperating to sponsor a cow milking contest, milk drinking contest, tubing contest, ice cream eating contest, dairy recipe contest, cow drawing contest, and displays.
