LANCASTER - A “Talk About Chesapeake Bay/Walk About Lancaster County Day” is planned by the Lancaster County Con servation District and the Lan caster County League of Women Voters for Saturday, Mar. 8 at the Farm and Home Center, 1383 Arcadia Ed., Lancaster. The day-long meeting is planned especially for elected and ap pointed local municipal officials throughout the county, and over 300 invitations have been mailed. The entire focus of the day’s ac tivities is on borough and township soil and water control conditions and their close relationship to the Chesapeake Bay. Future planning, current problems, available funds Lancaster Co. slates Chesapeake Bay Talk/Walk and aid programs will be explained by speakers representing various levels of government. During the morning session beginning at 9 a.m., Senator Noah W. Wenger will speak about the Chesapeake Bay Commission of which he is a member. Paul Swartz, executive director of the State Conservation Commission will discuss the impact of I,an caster County erosion and run-off problems on Chesapeake Bay. Mr. Edward C. Goodhart, Manor Township supervisor, will speak about local soil and water concerns from his point of view. The Commonwealth’s environmental programs and plans will be shared with the audience by a message Designers end Builders FARMER BOY AG SYSTEMS from DER Secretary, Nicholas Deßenedictus, and County Commissioner James E. Huber will be master of ceremonies for the day. Following lunch at the Farm and Home Center, buses will take local officials and guests at the con ference to two sites. One will be a farm at which examples of the use of Chesapeake Bay Improvement " funds will be examined. The other will be a suburban location to examine erosion and sedimen tation and storm water controls in place.
