New York plans first winter (arm show New York State’s first winter farm show, “Country Folks Ag Expo ’B5” will be held isn the Center of Progress Building on the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, N.Y. According to Everett Rank, administrator of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricult ural Stabilization and Conservation Service, the rates are based on the national average support rates of 90.7 cents per pound an nounced July 3 and are unchanged from 1983. Rates for Ohio filler (types 42-44) tobacco range from 56 to 98 cents per pound; for Wisconsin type 54, from 15 cents to (1.02 per pound; and for northern Wisconsin type 55, from 46 cents to $1.20 per pound. Rank said associations receiving tobacco for price sup port will deduct assessments for no-net cost tobacco accounts from amounts paid producers. Also, the southern Wisconsin and Ohio tobacco associations will deduct 2 cents and the northern Wisconsin association 1 cent per pound to help defray the associations’ administrative costs. Only the original producer is eligible for price support advances.
