This year there are plenty of rabbits and squirrels but few, if any, pheasants. We’ve been too busy to hunt at home, but one hunter gave us a skinned rabbit. Not everyone hunts in the fields. Quite a few hunt from boats and canoes as they hope to get wild ducks or one of the seven wild geese that were raised in our Virginia youth named top livestock judge HARRISBURG-Virginia boas ted the top individual and top collegiate team in the in tercollegiate and Junior Livestock Judging Contest conducted at the 28th Keystone International Livestock Exposition. Lee Brown of Purcellville, Va., was selected recipient of The Max Smith Award for his first place showing in individual overall judging encompassing three areas-sheep, swine and beef cattle evaluation. After repeated diving over several days, including help from professional scuba divers, they finally recovered their precious in KILE contest captured overall honors in the team phase of competition.
