Lebanon County’s Achievement Night was held recently at Lebanon Valley College. As 4-H’ers proudly walked to the front of the auditorium to claim their awards, many parents reflected on the hard work and persistence invested to earn the honor. The highlight of the evening was the naming of the Lebanon County Outstanding 4-H’ers. Deb Bolles of Mt. Zion and Damian Shiner of Myerstown received this highest county honor based on the quality and variety of their 4-H activities over the years. Deb received the $250 agriculture scholarship and Dan received the $250 home economics scholarship. Dan also received recognition as the state winner of the Allen Baker Scholarship. The Susan Heilinger wemer Memorial Award was presented to Marcy Barnhart of Palmyra. This award is given to a 4-H dairy member who is selected on the basis of involvement in the 4-H dairy program, and in local, county, state and national 4-H activities, in leadership, respon sibility, and future goals in the> dairy industry. Marcy is the daughter of Glenn and Gail Barnhart, who have a Ken Winebark, county extension agent, presented the Susan Heilinger Werner Memorial Award to Marcy Barnhart' of Palmyra. She is a freshmen student in the Northern Lebanon school district. Marcy has participated in county and district dairy shows and has been active in dairy judging competition. Marcy placed eighth in the All-American Dairy Judging Contest at Harrisburg two years ago. “Through 4-H I’ve developed self-assurance and pride in myself and in my ac complishments,” said Marcy. Also honored were “Club’s Outstanding 4-H’ers” as selected by club leaders on the basis of project work and involvement.
