A32—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, November 10,1984 BY SUZANNE KEENE HARRISBURG Massive draft horses trotted into the show ring Wednesday morning during the Keystone International Livestock Exposition in Harrisburg. It was the first time draft horses have been part of KILE. About 100 Belgians, Percherons and Clydesdales were entered in this year’s show, which was organized with the help of Gerald Allebach of Spring Mills, James and Dail Corl of State College, and Lewis and Gail Biddle of Boalsburg. Allebach said he and other Pennsylvania breeders pressed for the show because they wanted to attract competition from other states. Most of the Pennsylvania breeders have been competing against each other at the Farm Show for years. Allebach said he believes entries were limited to around 100 this year because the show date fell during the Royal Ag Winter Fair in Toronto, the largest draft horse show in North America. Next year, Allebach said, he hopes the timing of the show will be better and will attract more exhibitors.
