Pony County team tokos first in South Central 4-H judging contest SHIPPENSBURG The South Central 4-H Dairy Judging Contest was recently held at the Ship pensburg Fairgrounds. Seven South Central counties were represented. The Perry County team made up of Irene Benner, Jenny Kriebel, Judy Kriebel, and Ben Dum placed first with 1347 points. Lebanon County’s team placed second with 1315 points followed by York, Franklin, and Dauphin counties. Mike Kunkle of Lebanon County placed first in the individual competition followed by Irene Benner, Perry; Nelson Bomgardner, Lebanon; John Stamy IV, Cumberland; and C.E. Hubbard 111, York. Members viewed a film on thoroughbreds at the meeting, then discussed upcoming shows and competitions. A practice show for county members will be held on August 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Fellenbaum Farm ring. All members are urged to bring their horses to this show. The club’s officers for this year include Carla Melasecca, president; Brook Sweigart, vice president; Mary Ann Melasecca, secretary; Melissa Harris, news reporter; and Mary Ann Melasecca and Shawn Seibert, teen leaders.
