There was an average number of 4,971 cows enrolled for the full year. This is slightly below last year’s record number of 5013. This is the highest production level in both milk and butterfat ever achieved by any Wayne County DHIA herd. Slocum also received the “high cow in butterfat” award for a cow by the name of “Carla” who in a 305 day lactation produced 24,746 pounds of milk and 1,411 pounds of butterfat. The “high cow in milk award” went to Bruce Stanton, Starrucca, who owns a cow by the name of “Marsha” who in 305 days produced 28,689 pounds of milk and 941 pounds of butterfat. Lifetime award Charles Dennis Jr., R 2, Honesdale received the “high, lifetime award”. He owns a cow, “Ruth”, who in her lifetime has a production record of 222,056 pounds of milk and 8,808 pounds of butterfat.
