C4—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, July 2,1983 Montana auctioneer takes world championship DICKSON, Tenn. - On the eleventh anniversary of his graduation from auc tioneering school, Bud Knight celebrated in style he won the 20thannual World Livestock Auctioneer Championship. Knight, who was spon sored by Billings Live Stock Commission Co., Killing Mont., competed against 83 other top-notch auctioneers here at Dickson Livestock Center, Inc., on June 18 for the title. The Lancaster Fencibtes in both 1981 and 1982. “This year was the toughest competition I’ve ever had,” Knight said after the contest. “I’m glad I don’t have to do it again.” Once an auctioneer wins the championship, he is no longer eligible to compete again. For his winning chant in this year’s competition, Knight, 45, was awarded an engraved trophy, a $l,OOO cash prize and the Cham pionship ring, valued at $l,OOO. He also received a number of merchandise prizes and awards, including a gold microphone from the Missouri Auction School and the Golden Gavel Award from Reisch World- Wide College of Auctioneering. TIMONIUM, Md. - The 1983 edition of the Eastern National Livestock Show will open on Oc tober 4 at Timomum, Md. It will teature a Polled Hereford "Standard of Perfection Show” honoring a great breeder of fine cattle, Emie Tark, owner of Battleground Farm, Salem, N. J. Tark started his herd in 1951 with Victor Domino cows and a great bull from Ed Moore’s Double E Ranch in Mississippi. In 1958, he served as a member of the National Association’s Board of Directors, also as President of the Eastern Polled Hereford Breeders Association and a founding member of the New Jersey Polled Hereford Association where he served as a Director and as President. The “Ernie Tark Standard of Perfection Show” will begin on Friday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. with a Social to be held in the Maryland Koom of the Hunt Valley inn, near the show barns. The Fencibles have appeared at the Lincoln Memorial; Gettysburg; New Market, Va.; Geneva, N.Y., and were with Sherman on his "March to the Sea.” Jim Hams, Senior Vice President of the American Polled Hereford Association will in troduce T.D.
