B32—Lancaster Fanning, Saturday, fane 4,1983 BAIR York County’s 1983-84 dairy princess is Heidi Von Lange, who won the crown and banner last Saturday evening at the climax of the annual pageant, at the 4-H Center, here. First alternate princess is Sharon Taylor, and Debbie Kann was named the second alternate. Also in the princess court were Karen Klahold and Cathy Morrison. Heidi is the daughter of Mr. and mrs. Hans Von Lange, R 3 Stewartstown. She graduated Thursday evening from Kennard Dale High School, and plans to major in dairy production at Penn State, York campus, beginning in September. She’s a member and secretary of the Kennard-Dale Future Farmers of America, member of the 4-H dairy judging team and vice president of the county’s junior Md. Grange grants scholarships WALKERSVILLE, Md. - The Maryland State Grange Past Masters Agricultural Scholarship Committee met recently at the home of Mrs. Mary Louise Snyder in Walkersville, Md. Chairman Rodman Myers received nine applications. They were reviewed and the committee selected four winners. This scholarship is for students in terested in an agricultural education at the Community College level. During the past three years the Maryland State Grange has provided four $300.00 scholarships. Scholarship recipients will be the guests of the Md. The of three purebred Holstein heifers and a few steers, Heidi also boards and raises heifers for neighboring dairymen. First alternate princess Sharon Taylor is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Taylor, R 1 Airville. A June graduate of Red Lion High School, Sharon was a diversified occupation student, and will continue her employment with Score King, Inc., as well as assist with the family’s dairy farm chores. In the fall, she hopes to pursue a career in the travel in dustry. Deborah Kann, second alternate, is the daughter of Mrs. Diane Kann, R 2 Manchester. She’s a senior at Northeastern High School, and active in three of the school’s bands, various drama activities and the national honor society. Deborah works at the the Md. State Grange Agricultural banquet on Friday Oct. 14, at the Sheraton Inn in Frederick, Md. Scholarship recipients of $300.00 are Scott Poffenberger, of Boon sboro, Garrett Community College; Mike Health, of West minister, Catonsville Community College; Steve Greene of Whitehall, Frederick Community College; Kevin Delauter, of Middletown, Frederick Com munity College. This Grange Scholarship offers financial assistance to 4-H, FFA and Grange students interested in the fields of agriculture. These scholarships will be of fered yearly with next years ap plications due May 1,1964. Dwight Taylor dairy farm, assisting with milking, milk house cleanup and various bam chores. Both Heidi and Sharon were selected to present their original promotional skits as part of the pageant program. Heidi’s promotion was based on the new Ultra-High Temperature milk, while Sharon’s presentation was on a nutrition and fitness theme.
