RISING SUN, Md. Judge Oren C. Bender of Accident, MD., had hs . work cat out for him at the recent S Cecil County Fair Holstein Show. The heifer competition was close but Fell Farm SP Pete Ha, a powerful senior yearling shown by David Fell, Rising Sun, was called to the center of the ring as junior champion. Miss Elevation Astro Boots, dairy and well-balanced, bred and exhibited by Jim Yale and Mark Krauss of Rising Sun and winner of the intermediate yearling class was named reserve junior champion. Ponderosa Farms, owned by the Lieske Family of Rising Sun swept every cow class but one. Scott Lieske’s beautifully uddered Ponderosa Elevation Candy, an aged cow, repeated her per formance of last year and was again named senior and grand champion. She was also named Supreme Champion Dairy Cow, by concensus of Judge Bender and Judge Tracy Stiles of the colored breeds show. Eric Knutsen of Rising Sun ft exhibited his first place 3-year-old Willow Farm Rockman Ivanhoe daughter to reserve senior and grand champion. In the 4-H fitting and showing contests Sam Davis placed first in the junior division, Robbie Schrader was the intermediate winner and Dean Tyson was first in the senior division. Robbie Schrader was then named grand champion fitting and showing winner. The Colored Breeds dairy show, was small but the quality was high according to Judge Tracy Stiles of Waverly Farms, Clearbrook, Virginia. Participating for the first time, Mildred Seeds of Downington, Pa., swept ail classes with her Top-O- Hill animals. Stiles named Seeds’ Top-O-Hill Milestone Tempty, a 3- year-old, as senior and grand champion. Becky Frederick of Rising Sun showed the 4-H grand champion. In the Guernsey show, with only three animals exhibited, Dix-Lee Nance Diane, aged cow, was named senior and grand cham pion. She was exhibited by Keith and Lee Dixon of Elkton, MD. Lois Mark of West Grove showed her 3-year-old Ayrshire, Tri- Linden Jack’s Rosie to senior and grand champion honors. There were no 4-H Ayrshires exhibited. Blair and Cammy Yurkanin of Rising Sun, had the Brown Swiss grand champion with Elm Brook Perfection Candide, a strong, powerful aged cow.
