Vo-ag teachers meet WASHINGTON, D.C. - Three Pennsylavania vo-ag instructors were among a group of FFA state officers, advisors and teacher educators who met with President Reagan at the White House last week. Attending the session with the President held in the White House Rose Garden were Donald Reinert, Kutztown High School; Frederic StiUwagen, Lehigh County Vo- Tech; and Gerald Strickler, Eastern Lebanon County High School. Some 200 vo-ag instructors and educators from 45 states and Canada attended the National Supervised Occupational Ex perience (SOE) Workshop, which stressed the importance of the practical work experience programs conducted by FFA students. The workshop, attended by Reinert, Stillwagen and Strickler, also featured presentations by top vo-ag instructors, teacher educators and government of ficials, a congressional luncheon and the SOE field trip to Lan caster. The new FFA National Hall of Achievement at the Center in Alexandria, Va. was dedicated. The focal point of the workshop was the role that SOE plays in bridging the gap between education and employment in agriculture. By placing and guiding students in actual job situations, their vo-ag instructors and advisors provide individual help in the transition to careers in production agriculture and agribusiness.
